Icelandic jewelry designer, Jóhanna Methúsalemsdóttir, was born and raised in Reykjavík before emigrating to New York City at the end of the 1980’s. That era of the city and its cultural dynamism, nightlife, art and fashion beyond have informed Kría World's jewelry from its inception—a cyclic journey inspired by natural orders, cycles and the illusions they create. Relocating to the Catskill Mountains in 2018, she and her partner, artist Paul Weil, converted an outbuilding next to their home on the edge of the Catskill Forest Preserve into a studio where they produce her jewelry by hand with only certified reclaimed precious metals and ethically-sourced stones.
